Main training programme
This is a four year, part-time training programme of 15 days per year, run at weekends,
based in Manchester and open to people who want to:
- Qualify as a Transactional Analysis counsellor or psychotherapist
- Explore the possibility of becoming a Transactional Analysis counsellor or psychotherapist
- Enhance their existing work as a counsellor or psychotherapist
- Learn more about how to use Transactional Analysis to be more effective in their
professional lives eg as social worker, teacher, manager.
Transactional Analysis is
a social psychology as well as a theory and method of counselling and psychotherapy.
It has a long tradition of application to organisational and educational settings,
and provides a readily understandable and easily applicable approach to improving
relationships at work.
The flexibility of this training programme allows people to train for as many or
few years as they like, depending on their interest and needs from the programme.
Training years do not have to be consecutive so breaks can be taken to meet other
life commitments.
Those wanting to qualify as a counsellor or psychotherapist need to attend for the
full four years, but again these need not be taken consecutively.

For those wanting to qualify as a counsellor or psychotherapist, additional requirements
are:
- university degree
- OR qualification in one of the helping professions (eg social work, nursing, teaching)
- OR diploma in counselling
- OR relevant life experience (evidenced via Accreditation of Prior Learning - contact
